Soulful Singer-Songwriter MAAYAN is a wild child artist captivating crowds internationally with powerful performances and magnetic positivity. Her unique blend of Rock, Americana, Soul, and middle-eastern influences coupled with a singing style that's entirely her own make up a one-of-a-kind musical experience. The San Francisco-born-Tel Aviv & New York City-bred songstress is making waves wherever she turns with her anthemic songs of love, inspiration, and travel.

Bio

MAAYAN's (full name Maayan Oppenheim) musical journey started out with a punk/grunge band she formed in middle school and collaboration with Israeli Hip-Hop DJ & Producer Ori Shochat, on the Pop/R&B single Turn The Music Up (2008). After relocating to Brooklyn, NY she recorded over three albums worth of songs over the span of two years and studied electronic music production and sound design at Dubspot New York. In early 2013 she founded Oppenheim Music Inc. and released Indie/EDM EP In Too Deep. She followed up with Rock/World/Blues album Science Fiction in 2014, produced by Ofer Ekerling, featuring acclaimed musicians Yossi Fine and Yaron Gershvosky.

In 2015 MAAYAN began performing and busking all over New York City leading up to her 2016 tour. The MoonFire Tour had stops in Denver, SLC, Boise, SF, and LA. Later adding dates and radio interviews in Israel. During the tour, the single Way To You was recorded at Sunset Sound Studios in Hollywood, CA. She then went on to record her songs Your Lightning, Golden Rush, & Got to Go as part of a new album. Meanwhile, she launched her 2017 Lightning Tour, with radio appearances on KPOO 89.5, FCC Free Radio, and headline dates in the Bay Area, LA, and Reno NV. The single Way To You became a finalist on the International Acoustic Music Awards.

 

Some highlights from MAAYAN's live performances include playing alongside the T Sisters at The Saint in Reno, Eric Tessmer at the Boom Boom Room in SF, Holly Miranda at The Milk Bar, SF, and Olivia Jean at Bottom of The Hill, SF. As well as performances such as the Today At Apple Series at the San Francisco Apple Store, Harman Sound Series at the HARMAN NYC Store, and The Poster Room at The Fillmore, SF. In 2020 and 2021 MAAYAN made no excuses and continued to perform online during the pandemic at live streaming concerts and benefit shows alongside artists such as the Command Sisters, Rebbeca Black, tillie, Sierra Ferrel, and more. Among the live streaming shows, MAAYAN was featured in showcases by San Francisco Free Folk Festival, Balanced Breakfast, Music City Entertainment, SonicBids, and Do NYC. AND appeared in an Idaho TV infomercial addressing getting back to performing live amid the pandemic. Recently MAAYAN was selected out of thousands of national acts to perform at Musikfest 2022 in Bethlehem, PA. Before her performance, MAAYAN was interviewed by Bo Koltnow on WFMZ-TV 69 News as one of the up-and-coming bands to look for at the festival. 

 

MAAYAN's involvement in the music and creative communities has been an inseparable part of her musical journey. She serves as Chief Financial Officer at the nonprofit California Women’s Music 501(c)(3) and is the Co-Producer of the California Women’s Music Festival. She’s hosted and produced weekly showcases in New York City’s lower east side and select events in San Francisco and created a network of like-minded performers, “Folkers On The Rock”, aiding them with booking, consulting, and music production. Maayan continues to help others grow alongside her as she spreads her music far and wide. MAAYAN is based in Nashville and currently working on a new album. Her label Oppenheim Music, Inc. is set to relaunch in 2023 with exciting releases from select artists.
